How Fake or Fate works — the true-or-false psychological game
Fake or Fate is a psychological game where you post autobiographical confessions — true or false — and the community tries to unmask you. It's a true-or-false game, but also a cognitive calibration test: it measures how well you can deceive and how well you can spot deception.
1. Write a confession, true or false
Every round starts with a statement: a short first-person claim in one of 7 narrative categories — work, family, relationship, health, money, travel, past. Only you know whether it's true or invented.
If you're posting, your goal is to be convincing: the more voters you fool, the more points you earn at the reveal.
2. The community votes with confidence
Other players vote TRUE or FALSE and declare how sure they are: Maybe, Likely or Certain. Confidence feeds into your score and your Brier Score, the metric that measures how well-calibrated your predictions are.
During voting all votes stay anonymous: nobody sees how others voted until the reveal.
3. Reveal the truth and build your profile
Whenever you want (with at least 3 votes) you reveal whether your confession was true or false. You earn points for everyone you fooled, and at each reveal your H-Score, psychological archetype and AI-generated Narrative Fingerprint update.
The more you play, the sharper your profile gets: Fake or Fate doesn't tell you who you'd like to seem, but who you really are when you try to lie.
1v1 challenges and leaderboards
Beyond the feed you can launch 1v1 challenges: put one of your statements on the line, your opponent casts a single vote and you win the duel if you fool them. Two global leaderboards reward the best profiles: Persuasiveness for the most convincing, Discernment for the most precise voters.
